Frankfort – 1st Sgt Joseph Whalen Bartley, Jr, “Sonny”, 78, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. A native of Louisville, he was born on May 26, 1942 to the late Joseph Whalen and Evelyn Bartley. He retired from the US Army after over 25 years. He served during the Vietnam War, Korean Conflict, and Desert Strom. After his military career he worked at Ford Motor Company, retiring after 30 years. He is survived by his sons, Chris (Veronica) Ballinger, Frankfort, and Nathaniel Ballinger, Shelbyville; his brother, Garry Bartley, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Justin, Andrew, Ethan, Christian, Gabriel, Nathaniel Jr, and Laura Manley; his great grandchildren GraceLynn and Julianne Ballinger; as well as his dog, Lily. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Bartley and his dog, Bo. Graveside service will be held at 12:30pm on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.
