A. Ralph Autilio
July 25th, 1930 - September 5th, 2012
Mr. A. Ralph Autilio, age 82, of Gloversville, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday evening, September 5, 2012. He was born July 25, 1930 in Elmhurst, Queens, the son of the late James and Nancy Patrone Autilio. He was a graduate of Gloversville High School and later attended photography school in Rochester. Ralph then served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953. He was well-known locally as manager of the former Mack's Drug Store in Gloversville and he later became district manager for CVS Pharmacies where he retired from about 15 years ago. Following retirement he enjoyed working as a driver for Morris Ford in Burnt Hills. Ralph was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and the Gloversville Rotary where he was a "Paul Harris Fellow." He had bowled in local leagues and also played tennis. Survivors include: his wife, Sheila A. Walsh Autilio of Gloversville; four children: Nancy A. Kested Martin of Johnstown, Mary M. Kaplan Jeffrey of New Hampshire, Ralph A. Autilio Bruce of the United Kingdom and Kathleen M. Autilio of Gloversville and a sister, Nancy M. Autilio of Gloversville. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Jennifer A. Kested, Brian M. Kested, Emily L. Kaplan, Laura A. Kaplan, Nathaniel A. Kaplan, Matthew P. Kaplan, Abigail F. Kaplan, Sadie A. Kaplan, Patrick J. Kaplan and Zoe M. Kaplan and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ralph was predeceased by his first wife, Anna L. Pezzella Autilio in 1985 and by three siblings: Emmanuel "Manny" Autilio, Caroline Autilio and Jo-Anne Autilio. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 9 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 9:15 a.m. Monday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Gloversville Public Library, 58 E. Fulton St; Gloversville, NY 12078.
