A. Jean Chapple Mrs. Chapple, 86, died September 13, 2011 at her residence. Born on May 14, 1925 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and raised in Sudbury, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence Lawrence. Mrs. Chapple, an operating room nurse in Sudbury, started her family in Flemington, NJ. A room mother and a den mother, she taught Sunday School and hosted many a Flemington Presbyterian Church youth group meeting at her home. Moving to the Spartanburg, SC area, Mrs. Chapple volunteered in the Second Presbyterian Church office and kitchen as well as with Hospice for nearly ten years. As a Charlotte, NC resident of 19 years, she also volunteered in the Amity Presbyterian Church kitchen and Cotswold Elementary School. Mrs. Chapple was a two-time cancer survivor. In addition to her parents, her husband, Dr. Ronald Victor Chapple; an infant daughter, Susan Jean Chapple; and brothers, John and Patrick Lawrence and their spouses preceded her in death. Mrs. Chapple is survived by her children, Ron Chapple and wife, Debi, Murray Chapple and wife, Debbie and Rhonda Chapple Stewart and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Josh and Alex Chapple, Blaine Chapple, Ashley Moore and wife, Moe, Tinsley and Will Stewart; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Heston, Dodge, and Levin Moore; brothers, Albert Lawrence and James Lawrence and wife, Patricia; and sister, Daisy Priest and husband, Merv. Memorial service will be at 4:00 PM Sunday, September 18, 2011 in the chapel at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Ivey, 6030 Park South Drive, Charlotte, NC 28210 or Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 East 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
