Biography Ada Mae Marquis, 101, of Longmont, Colorado died on Monday, September 23, 2013. She was born Ada Mae Mattal on January 14, 1912 in Bison, Kansas to John J. and Sarah C. (Kleweno) Mattal. She graduated from Bison High School on May 16, 1929. She also attended an all-girl Christian trade school in Kansas City, Kansas. She married Walter D. Marquis on June 30, 1938 in Hoisington, Kansas. She lived in Hoisington and Ellinwood, Kansas before moving to Ogallala, Nebraska in 1993 where she resided for nine years. She moved to Longmont, Colorado in 2002 living at Cinnamon Park Assisted Living. She enjoyed making new friends there before moving across town to Life Care Center in 2007. Ada loved cats and dogs, gardening, cooking, and going to movies. Ada was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The family expresses their sincere appreciation for the care she received at both Cinnamon Park Assisted Living and the Life Care Center of Longmont. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Virginia Mattal (infant) and Genevieve (Mattal) Schwab and her husband Walter Marquis and two sons, Ronnie Marquis (infant) and Jack D. Marquis, and two daughters-in-law. She is survived by five of her seven children: Jerry Marquis of Blue Springs, Missouri, Lonnie Marquis of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, Sally (Vern) Keeslar of Longmont, Colorado, Carol Daugherty of Longmont, Colorado, and John (Pam) Marquis of Ogallala, Nebraska. Ada has 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home, located at 503 Terry Street, Longmont, Colorado. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, located at 415 North Main Street, Hoisington, Kansas. Ada's Grandson, Vern Keeslar, Jr., a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will conduct the services. The interment will follow the funeral service at the Olivet Cemetery, located NW 40th Avenue, five miles northwest of Hoisington, Kansas. A memorial has been established for the Golden Belt Humane Society in Great Bend, Kansas. Service Information A service summary is not available
