Adam Gregory Eastman

Adam Gregory Eastman passed away unexpectedly at the age of 23 on March 14, 2014 at his home in Lacey, Washington. He was born June 16, 1990 in Olympia, Washington, and was the oldest of three children. Adam was homeschooled until the 9th grade when he attended North Thurston High School his freshman and sophomore years before finishing high school in the Running Start program at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia. Adam nearly completed his Associate of Arts degree while earning his high school diploma. At the age of 19, Adam joined the United States Marine Corps as a Rifleman (0311). He graduated Basic Training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) in San Diego, California as a Private First Class (E-2). He graduated from the School of Infantry (SOI) at Camp Pendleton, California. He was stationed with the 1st Battalion/5th Marines (1/5) at Camp Pendleton and was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from March 2011 to September 2011. He was promoted to Lance Corporal (E-3). After returning to Camp Pendleton, Adam was re-assigned to the 3rd Battalion/5th Marines where he deployed a second time as part of a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) aboard the USS Green Bay from September 2012 to March 2013. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps on June 19, 2013 as a Corporal (E-4). As a US Marine, Adam was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation, Combat Action Ribbon (Afghanistan), Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (with 2 stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (USS Green Bay), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2), NATO Medal – ISAF Afghanistan, and a Letter of Appreciation. Adam always enjoyed studying history, so after returning to civilian life, he enrolled in the GI Bill and started taking classes at South Puget Sound Community College in order to finish his pre-requisites to attend St. Martins University with the goal of becoming a history teacher. When he died, Adam was two weeks away from finishing his last quarter at SPSCC and had been accepted to attend the fall semester at St. Martins University. Adam loved many things in his life, including his family, his friends, computer video games, heavy metal (occasionally Christian) music, and the Seattle Seahawks. From time to time, he even loved the family Shih-tzu, “Flower.” When he wasn’t studying, he was playing games on his computer or hanging out with his friends. He spent hundreds of dollars on tickets to watch Seahawks home games with friends and was #5389 and #5390 in line for season tickets. Adam was able to watch his beloved Seahawks win the Superbowl XLVIII (48) in 2014! Adam had a great, but at times obnoxious, sense of humor that often included Wookie cries, gorilla runs, and yelling “rage!” after he knew he got under your skin. Adam was also very sweet and compassionate, always looking out for his family and friends. He will be missed terribly! Adam is survived by his parents, Scott M. Eastman and Lisa C. (Greeley) Eastman; his sister, Elisabeth M. Eastman; his brother, Christopher S. Eastman; his grandfather, Gregory A. Eastman and step-grandmother, Judy Leben Eastman of Shelton, Washington; his grandparents, Virgil and Carol Greeley of Olympia, Washington; his aunt, Jennifer Eastman-Horner of Elma, Washington; his uncle, Jeffrey A. Eastman of Olympia, Washington; his aunt and uncle, Jennifer and Kevin deWeber of Vancouver, Washington; his aunt and uncle, Katie and Rob Cook of Olympia, Washington; his uncle Daniel Greeley of Huntsville, Texas; along with numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, first cousins, second cousins, and close friends. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Linda C. Eastman.
