Adam Joseph Shurey

Adam Shurey passed away in Clearwater, Florida on September 2, 2018 where he was currently residing. Adam was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia on August 30, 1995 at Mary Washington Hospital. Adam's early childhood years were spent in Fredericksburg, Virginia before moving to Wesley Chapel, Florida in 2005. He graduated from Wesley Chapel High School in 2013. In 2013 Adam moved with his family to Mooresville, North Carolina where he worked at various restaurants. Over the past year, he was an Uber and Lyft driver. Adam was inspired by living his life holistically. He considered himself to be an indigo child, possessing very spiritual and empathic qualities, and practiced crystal usage. Adam believed that crystal and stones from the earth provided energies, inspiration, and protection for himself and for others. His favorite store was Mystic Jewels, located in Duck, North Carolina. He spent a lot of time there looking at stones and speaking with the owner and other customers about their personal beliefs and experiences. Not only did he like buying stones, but he loved giving them away to people who needed protection or healing. Survivors include his parents, John and Natalie Shurey; siblings Chris Carlson, Amy Carlson, John W. Shurey, and Jacob Shurey; paternal grandmother Mary Lynne Shurey; nieces Natalie Carlson and Hannah Carlson; nephew Jason Detrick; aunts and uncles; Ann Marie and Stephen Fiore, Nancy and Bernard Shoeps, Deborah Shifflett, Maria and Gene McGinnis, and Ann Deist and David English; and several cousins. Adam was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William C. and Olga Fickenworth and his paternal grandfather, John J. Shurey.
