Addie Mae Sizemore
August 10th, 1926 - March 6th, 2024
Addie Mae Sizemore (Grandma)
Born 8/10/26 in Malvern, AK. First daughter of Walter Cleveland Ross & Mallie Melissa Ross. She had 5 Sisters, 3 Brothers: Twins Bula & Eula Fay, Lula Virginia Montgomery, Wanda Woodall, Winston Ross, Edward Ross, Joseph Ross and Diane Porter.
Addie married Raymond Evans in 1947-1966. Together, they had 3 children: Ray(Dewai), Cinda and Teena. Addie moved to Oregon sometime around 1963 and started working as a cook for UofO for 26 years.
In 1968 she married Melvin Sizemore and in 1969 she bought her first and only house where she resided for 55 years.
She enjoyed having family in her home, the door was always open to family during times of need. I believe all the Grandkids and a few Great-Grandkids lived in her tiny home at one time or another.
Addie always wanted to make sure you were fed no matter the time of day or night. She would offer to cook a meal or make a pot of coffee.
Addie enjoyed getting her hair & nails done well into her 90’s. She always wanted to look her best. She enjoyed shopping at Kmart, working in her garden, walks around the neighborhood, attending & helping at church functions.
There’s a few lessons learned from Grandma as she was strong willed, Independent and frugal. She knew how to live on a limited budget and within her means. She never once relied on anyone to assist her financially. She always saved for her future and planned so she would never be a burden on others. Even paying for her own funeral 23 years ago. She would be so PROUD to know she saved several thousand dollars.
Anyone who has ridden in a car with Grandma knows the lanes aren’t wide enough and the posted speed limits are not to be followed. She once got a ticket for going 15 miles UNDER the speed limit- it was a 35mph zone.
Also, the bumper sticker- IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE WAY I'M DRIVING, STAY OFF THE SIDEWALK! May have something to do with her.
Grandma would be PROUD to know you all came to celebrate her life
Addie has
1 surviving daughter
7 Grandkids
14+ Great-Grandkids
10+ Great-Great Grandkids
