Adele D. Chavez
July 5th, 1958 - May 14th, 2019
Adele D. Chavez, (geewee or putunia) 61, resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Tuesday May 14, 2019. After a long battle with a terminal illness she was called home with the Lord. In HER true fashion, she did all she could to stay positive through these challenges while holding on to her integrity. She was adamant about going on her own terms and not going down without a fight! That was Adele. She fought the good fight until it was beyond her control. She was a warrior through this debilitating illness rolling with the punches as she pushed passed the time the doctors gave her to live. Once again, she exceeded the rules and demonstrated her will to make the changes required to have the best quality of life. She fought back the tears and gritted her teeth through the pain while taking it under the chin. She remained strong until the very last day of her life. She was admired by many for her diligence, humor, and class. She was born of her mother, Delfinia Perea and father, Silviano Chavez. She will join her lifelong partner Ramon Lueras in heaven as he preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter Nichole Poncho-Garcia and spouse Pablo Garcia, daughter Monique Poncho-Alderete and spouse John Alderete, stepson Jerry Daniel Poncho who also preceded her in death, granddaughter Dominique Alderete, and grandson Jonathan Daniel Alderete. Her surviving sister Agnes Sanchez and family, sister Evelyn Gholson and family, brother Nick Chavez and family, deceased brother Leo Chavez and family, deceased brother Joe Chavez and family, deceased brother Milton Chavez and family, deceased brother Sammy Chavez and family, and deceased brother Demetrio Chavez and family. The youngest of her siblings, Adele was always determined to rise to the occasion. Her dedication and NO-Nonsense approach to hard work and life helped in her pursuit of a wide variety of career paths. She was proud to have worked in the underground mines, was an essential part of decades of manufacturing workloads, an expert in pharmaceutical practices, and many other positions she mastered. Adele was a cool chick who beat to her own drum! As a born leader she never took the credit but most certainly handled with her own swag! Ms. Adele had many sides to her. She was full of life and enjoyed rock and roll concerts, dressing up, meditating while working in her yard, talking about the spirit, being creative, shopping, long walks, watching movies, jamming music, cracking jokes, and was very talented at sketching just to name a few. She took pride in herself as she would attribute this virtue to her father and the way she was brought up. There are not enough words to express all the virtues she embodied. She took her experiences as an opportunity to learn and relate to others. She rarely complained but instead found a way to resolve problems. She invested in others well being as long as they were willing to do the hard work. She put her money where her mouth was and gave to causes and people to enrich their aspirations. For so many she was the voice of reason, encouraging, and inspiring. She will be missed very much and not to be forgotten as she was not to be duplicated, The Lords Masterpiece! She wanted everyone to know that she loved you! She appreciated the unconditional love that all her family and friends gave her along her journey. RIP our sister in Christ! Upon her wishes she will not have a service but asks that we have a meal together in celebration of her life. All who are interested are welcome to call or text Monique at 505 373-8920 for further details. Arrangements entrusted to: Riverside Funeral Home of Albuquerque 225 San Mateo Blvd. NE (505) 764-9663
