Wheeler, Adele, 84, of St. Petersburg went to be with her Lord on May 5th, 2009. She is survived by son John Murphy and beloved daughter-in-law Lora; daughter Sondra Murphy and beloved husband Jeremy Platt; son David Wheeler Jr., and former husband and good friend David Wheeler Sr., along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She will be sorely missed by her grandchildren Brooks Murphy Brandt CO, Carleson Murphy Brandt CT, Chris Murphy FL and Melissa Murphy FL. She had a special place in her heart for Great-Granddaughter Mikhayla Murphy, who saw her Grandma almost every day for the last 13 years. Grandma took great pleasure watching Mikhayla play in the varsity band at Keswick Christian School football games last fall, saying it brought back wonderful memories watching John, David and Chris play in their games so many, many years ago. They were best friends. Adele was born April 12, 1925 in Cassville, MO. She lived and worked in San Diego, California, Niagara Falls, NY, and Springfield, Mo. In 1955 she moved to Miami, FL where she worked for Chevron Oil. In 1972 she moved to Tampa and retired in 1988 as the office manager for Alvin Magnon Jewelers. Adele was an ordinary person who made an extraordinary impact on all those who came in contact with her. She lived for her family, and supported them in every way possible. She became an instant friend to anyone who met her; in her neighborhood, her church, and her last home in Freedom Inn at Bay Pines. She never met a child she didn't want to hold or a plant she didn't want to add to her garden. Adele celebrated life every day, dressed to the "9's", read constantly, and was a joy to simply be around. A viewing will be held Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM followed by a celebration of her life at 12 Noon. Both will be held at Park Street Baptist Church, 3901 Park Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33709 727-345-1800. Lunch will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Park Street Baptist Church Missionary Fund at the above address. Arrangements by Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes 727-347-6636.
