Adelmira G. Vargas
November 19th, 1945 - April 8th, 2021
Mrs. Adelmira G. Vargas, 75, of Amsterdam, New York, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2021 at her son’s home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 19, 1945 in Carrizo Springs, Texas to Steven and Otilla (Lerma) Guerrero. In June of 1960, Adelmira was united in marriage to Lorenzo De La Cruz Vargas. After many years, the couple separated, but remained married until Lorenzo’s passing in 2000. She is also predeceased by her parents, Steven and Otilla, her children, Lorenzo and Marilyn Vargas, her great-grandchild, baby Vincent, as well as by her sister, Fela Garcia. Early in her life, Adelmira worked as a translator in the Modonk County Court System in California. After several years, she left the position and focused her energy on raising her children as a single mother. Adelmira was a devoted mother to not only her own children, but to her grandchildren, and to anyone who needed her help and guidance. She was kind, compassionate, and dependable. She would never refuse to lend a hand when needed, or turn her back on family in need. In her free time, Adelmira enjoyed knitting for her family, sewing doll clothes, and cooking for everyone around her. She was a life-long parishioner of the Catholic faith. Adelmira is survived by her children, Annette “Annie” Juan, and Mario G. (Casandra) Vargas Sr.; her grandchildren, Amanda, Mario (Cynthia), Jesse, Lorenzo Jr. (Devan), Justin (Katie), Monica, Eusebio (Melinda), Emilio (Leticia), Ricky, Lorenzo (Jasmine), Andrea (Garth), and Mario Jr. (Yereliss); great-grandchildren Breanne (Shane), Donavin, Angel, Vincent, Sontos, Anahsty, Railycia, Valencia, Loyal, Cruz, Aalayah, Analys, Arelia, Emilya, Emilio, Emyna, Ava, Cameron, Olivia, Viviana, Jose, Jayden, Gabriella, Mason, Noel, Mia, Makayla, Mario Jr. Miguel, Maliyah, Mauricio, Gabriel, Jakob, Alayna, Eric, Marcella, and Isaiah; her brothers, Ismael and Able (Cata) Guerrero; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Adelmira’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Community Hospice, and all of their volunteers, for helping to make her transition into her next life as peaceful as possible. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 12 Noon until 2 o’clock in the afternoon at the chapel of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York. A prayer service will follow at 2 o’clock with Father Jeffrey M. L’Arche officiating.
