Afif Saleem Shahwan

Mr. Afif Saleem Shahwan, age 88, a resident of Davenport, Florida passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 11:43 pm EST at his Son’s (Isam Shahwan) home surrounded by family. Mr. Shahwan was born April 2, 1935 in Beit Jala, Palestine to Saleem Ibrahim and Karima (Awad) Shahwan. He came to the United States in 1991 as a refugee from the Kuwait-Iraq war, and resided in Idaho for 12 years. He became a us citizen in 2000. He moved to Davenport with his son Isam one year ago, prior to that he lived in Washington and Idaho states. Afif was the Owner/Operator of a Car Detailing Shop. He enjoyed socializing, traveling, watching wrestling and soccer and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers and 1 sister. Afif is survived by his loving family, 2 sons –Isam Shahwan and Iyad (Christina) Shahwan; 2 daughters – Suhair Shahwan and Suhad Shahwan; brother – Usama Shahwan; 3 sisters – Fadwah Shahwan, Dawlah Shahwan Ghneim and Samiah Shahwan Alsakhil; 10 grandchildren – Yasmine, Waseem, Kareem, Ibrahim, Saleem, Dimitri, Elias, Dalia, Savannah and Serena. A graveside service will be held 3pm Friday, March 15th at Auburndale Cemetery, 450 Bennett Street, Auburndale.
