Alan Ryan Friend

Alan Ryan Friend, 86, of South Pasadena, passed away, peacefully, on October 17, 2018 at Gulfport Rehabilitation Center. Alan was born in New York City to Sam and Anne Friend on August 13, 1932. He was an Air Force veteran who served in Korea. He married his wife of 52 years, Phyllis, in Los Angeles, California in 1961. Phyllis pre-deceased him in 2014. In 1964, their only child, Alison, was born. Alan, and his small family, relocated to South Pasadena in 1976. Here, he was the co-owner of Modern Tire and Wheel, and also served as a South Pasadena City Commissioner. He retired at the age of 55. He continued to be very involved in South Pasadena politics, and traveled extensively with Phyllis. Alan is survived by his daughter, Alison LeBlanc, who resides in Cape Canaveral with her husband, Marc. A Celebration Of Life will take place at a future date. David C.
