Alan Robert Koenig, 75, of St. Petersburg, passed away July 2, 2014. Alan was born and raised in the Bronx, NY and graduated from Georgia Tech with a Master's degree in Ceramic Engineering. He worked for many years as an engineer at the Jim Walter Research Corporation as well as owning and operating Eppis Essen catering with his wife, Sharon. Alan was a longtime member of Congregation B'nai Israel in St. Petersburg and a Silver Life Master in bridge. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sharon; daughters, Pam Dotson and Robyn (Mike) Shapiro; granddaughters Anna (Todd) Dahm and Rachel Shapiro; as well as many nieces & nephews. Alan was predeceased by his sister, Francine Ringler; granddaughter, Sarah Dotson; and son-in-law, David Dotson. Services will be held 4 PM Thursday, July 3rd at the David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg. Interment will be at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ. Shiva Minyan will be held Monday & Tuesday, July 7-8, 6:30 PM at the Koenig Home, 1711 Follow Thru Road North, St. Petersburg, FL 33710. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Alan's memory to Congregation B'nai Israel. David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Central Avenue Chapel in St. Petersburg is serving the family.
