Alan Lee Murphy, age 85, passed away quietly at home, August 4.2023. Born February 4, 1938 to Robert Franklin Murphy and Evelyn Keele Murphy in Duchesne County Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gerald Masters Murphy and Dee Franklin Murphy, and a daughter Mandi Lynn Murphy. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, BettyJan Leavitt Murphy and children: Lon Leavitt Murphy (Heidi), Trent Alan Murphy (Lisa), Troy Franklin Murphy,(Geri},Lee Alexander Murphy,(Chandelle) and Lynnette Carol Murphy Kersten(Peter), 24 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren. Alan attended Union High School in Roosevelt, Utah, He served an LDS mission in the Gulf States 1959-1961. He graduated from Weber State University with a BS in Manufacturing Engineering. He was employed by Boeing Manufacturing in Renton, Washington, IBM Corporation in San Jose, California and Tucson, Arizona, He retired from IBM in 1998 and built a retirement home in Pine, Arizona. During the next 20 years he served as a volunteer for his church and community in many capacities. He was respected and loved by those he worked with and many sought him out for counsel and advice.
