Alan Smith Alan was born in Eugene to Ruth and Clifford Smith. He attended Roosevelt Jr. High and graduated from South Eugene High in 1955. He was a Veteran, serving in the US Navy for 2 years. Most of his working years were spent in sales. He was very successful, managing to retire when he was only in his forties. Alan’s main interests in life were boats, cars, and planes. He spent many years cruising the Willamette and Columbia rivers with his younger brother Steve and other close boating friends. Alan was a regular spectator at the September Reno Air Races for countless years and loved everything about planes. He always kept his cars in showroom condition. In years past when he was visiting his brother Steve, he would always stand guard by his car and make sure the Springer Spaniel didn’t pee on a tire. Alan was preceded in death by his younger brother, Denny, in 1963. Alan should best be remembered for his selfless devotion in helping to care for his mother and her Aunt in their senior years. He is survived by his younger brother Stephen. A private graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 1:00 pm at West Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary. Please access the obituary and you are invited to sign the guestbook at musgroves.com
