Albert "Bud" Kelly
May 18th, 1923 - February 8th, 2015
Albert Lee Kelly, also affectionately known as 'Bud', slipped into glory Sunday February 8th at his home in Scotts Valley, CA. at the age of 91. Bud was born in Leray, Texas, May 18, 1923. He was married to the love of his life Jane for 68 years. A WWII Navy veteran, he served Air transport Squadron Eight aboard The USS Lexington in The South Pacific. He was also at Guadalcanal and The Solomon Islands. Bud retired as Chief after serving 21 years in the Navy. After retiring from The Lockheed Test Base in Santa Cruz in 1981, Bud and Jane traveled the United States, before settling at Toledo Bend Lake, Hemphill, Texas. Bud was an avid bass fisherman, a family man, loved to travel and had a knife sharpening business while living in Colorado. He is survived by his wife Jane, his daughter Kathy Hagen, 3 grandchildren, Luke Hagen, Janae Sandman of Santa Cruz and Jacob Auwaerter now serving in the U.S. Navy. He also has one great-grandson, Cole Sandman of Santa Cruz, all of whom he was very proud. Buds oldest daughter Kitty Auwaerter proceeded him passing away February 22, 1994. Bud also leaves one sister, Vivian, of Port Naches, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bud never met a stranger and was always quick with a warm handshake and a great story to tell. My dad is and will always be my hero. He will be greatly missed.
