Albert V. Pillsbury, 97, of Bradenton, Florida, passed May 11, 2018. He was born Feb. 13, 1921, in Bradenton where he lived most of his life. Albert spent his childhood learning about boats at the Pillsbury Brothers Marine Ways on Snead Island and graduated from Palmetto High School in 1940. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and served until 1946 in the South Pacific. Albert and his three brothers owned the Pillsbury Dredging Co., until the early 1980s, creating waterways throughout Southwest Florida. Albert married Naomi Hawkins in 1952 and they had three children, Rebecca, Amy and Joe. Widowed in 1987, Albert married Wilma Lee in 1995. They were married until her death in 2015. A lifelong member of the Palmetto Seventh Day Adventist Church, Albert shared his love for God with others through his service as a church elder and leader. Albert is survived by his son Joe (Cindy) and his granddaughter Chelsea. He is also survived by his brother Leonard and two stepchildren. A visitation will be held at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, FL 34205, on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 PM. The funeral service, also at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, will take place on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Internment will take place at Skyway Memorial Gardens following the service.
