ALBERT QUILICI January 12, 1927 - November 7, 2010 Private services will be held in Santa Cruz for Albert Quilici who passed away peacefully at his home in Santa Cruz on November 7, with his loving family at his bedside. Born in Santa Cruz, he was the son of Giuseppe and Mary Quilici. In 1934 at the age of seven, the family moved to Virginia City, Nevada. He attended school there, and his parents owned and operated the Saw Dust corner Bar. In 1945, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Navy where he served in the Sea Bees until1947, and then with the Naval Reserve until 1955. Following his military service, his family moved to Davenport where he met future wife Eva Dell' Orfanello. They were married on June 4, 1950 and resided in Virginia City for a short time before moving back to Santa Cruz. Albert's career in farming began in 1950 where he worked at the Miramar Ranch (Brussels Sprout Farm) in which he later became a partner/ operator. He retired from farming in 1982 and enjoyed his retirement by working with his sons in their landscaping business. He also enjoyed cooking for family and friends and working in his vegetable garden. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Eva Quilici, his three children, Gary Quilici, Elaine Padilla and her husband Francisco, and Randy Quilici and his wife Roxanne. He also leaves his grandchildren, Paul, Nick, and Keith Quilici, Kelly Bortz, Eva Lopez, and eleven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister in-law, Betty Del Chairo; nephew David Del Chairo; and niece, Erin Cerigoli. Albert was a member of the Marconi club and the Italian Catholic Federation. Services will be private. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Michael Wu, Dr. Timothy Allari , all of their staff , and Hospice of Santa Cruz. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to your favorite charity
