Obituary Alberta (Ali) Shinn died peacefully in Ft. Collins, Colorado on July 25, 2016 at the age of 80. Ali was born on January 15, 1936 in Plainwell, Michigan, where she spent several years living on the family farm. She also spent a portion of her childhood in Mackinaw City, Michigan, before moving with her family to Michigan Center, Michigan. Ali met the love of her life, Cliff Shinn, in Michigan Center while in 4th grade. They were married on February 17, 1952, and were constant companions for the 64 years of their marriage. Ali was a wonderful wife and mother, spending countless hours as the Chair of the annual Girl Scout Cookie Drive, PTA President, and Little League Volunteer during her children's early years. Ali and Cliff loved to travel. They spent many years camping with their children in Northern Michigan; where they went on to purchase a cabin for summer hiking and winter snowmobiling with family and friends. After selling the cabin, they purchased a winter home in Florida, beginning their lifelong love of the state. Once the kids left home, Cliff and Ali relocated to Florida where Ali embarked on a Real Estate Career. She was named Rookie of the Year during her first year, and was awarded several additional sales awards during her Career. Ali was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2011, and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2013 to be closer to her daughters and their families. Ali is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Cliff; her daughters Debbie (Rick) Gillette; Terri (Dan) Pickett; her sons Tony (Cindy) Shinn; Greg (Brenda) Shinn; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; her brother Victor (Tomoko) Doster; Sister-in-law Betty Doster, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gardner and Jean Doster, her Mother and Father In-law, Ray and Arlene Shinn, her brother Chuck Doster, and her grandson Ryan Pickett. On behalf of Ali and her family, the greatest appreciation is extended to all of the wonderful caregivers at Rehab and Nursing Center of the Rockies and Fort Collins Hospice, for all the love and care you showed her.
