Aldona A. Macfarlane
July 7th, 1923 - March 13th, 2014
Aldona A. Macfarlane, 90, formerly of Droms Road Ext. Scotia, NY, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 13, 2014, at her son's home in Chicago with her loving family at her bed side. Born July 7, 1923 in Amsterdam, NY she was the daughter of the late Adolph and Ursula "Julia" Valaitis Kubilius. She was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. She was longtime resident of Glenville, NY. In 2012 she moved to Chicago. Dona was employed as an Executive Secretary for General Electric in Schenectady for over 25 years until retiring a number of years ago. She was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Glenville and a member of the General Electric Quarter Century Club. Dona loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, travel and entertaining family and friends. On June 3, 1950 she married Charles A. Macfarlane who passed away in April 26, 2007. Survivors include her loving family, children, Christine A. Gary Ferguson of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Charles J. Macfarlane of Chicago, Ill, and step children George A. Sylvia Macfarlane, Sr. of Queensbury, Joan Maybee of New Bern, NC; three grandchildren, Bryan, Lindsey and Morgan Ferguson; as well as a niece, nephew and several cousins. Aldona was predeceased by her brother Willard Kensell. Prayer services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014, at 9:00 am at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville. Burial will follow at the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, March 20, 2014, from 4 to 6 pm at the Glenville Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Aldona's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, PO Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38105.
