Alejandro (Al) Valencia

April 24th, 1951 - September 24th, 2023

Alejandro (Al) Valencia, 72, was born in Pecos, New Mexico on April 24th 1951. He took his final breath on September 24th, 2023, at the home he shared with his daughter, Alicyndra Valencia, and grandchildren Elijah (Jage), Jacob, Wesley and Dante. Alejandro proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in November 1968. Semper Fidelis was the energy that coursed predominantly through his veins, as a result of his proud and honorable service in the 1st Infantry Division of Vietnam. Well decorated with a Rifle Marksman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Al concluded his service with a Good Conduct Medal as Lance Corporal in 1972. After Alejandro’s honorable discharge from the Marine Corp, he began his career with the phone company, where his work ethic was exemplified until he retired in 2001. Al helped create numerous memories in the kitchen and around the table with his love of cooking and trying new recipes. He looked forward to occasions where he could make his incredible fried tacos and impressively chopped pico de gallo to share with a house full of family and friends. Oftentimes his culinary delights were made with freshly picked veggies from the garden, thanks to the green thumb he was blessed with. Over the past five years, Al brought copious amounts of joy and love to his daughter and grandchildren while sharing a home with them in Henderson CO. His hard work and desire to always “earn his keep” helped set a beautiful example for his grandchildren. Grandpa Al’s intriguing stories and thoughtful teachings will be missed greatly but never forgotten. Alejandro is survived by his daughters Victoria (Joe) Chenot & Alicyndra Valencia; grandchildren, Rick (Madalina), Katelyn (Daniel), Zabryna, Elijah (Jage), Zakery, Jacob, Wesley, Brileigh, Dante, Bryson, Charles & Nicholas; great grandchildren, Denisa, Michelle, Emma, June, Wade, Sadie & Sullivan; and siblings, Maria Cordova, Dora (Tom) Esparza, Larry (Viola) Valencia, Ernie Valencia, Gilbert (Cathy) Valencia and Rick Valencia. Alejandro was preceded in death by his parents Nazario & Felipita (Gallegos) and siblings Fred Valencia & Rita Blatter. Family and friends are invited to Alejandro’s full military honors funeral at Ft. Logan Cemetery: 3698 South Sheridan Blvd. Denver CO 80235, on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, at 11:00AM at Shelter Area “C.”. The ceremony will be tightly timed, so please arrive at Staging Area “C” by 10:45AM, for the procession to Shelter Area “C”. A reception will immediately follow at BC’s Sports Pub: 6501 W. Mississippi Ave. Lakewood CO 80226.
