Winton, Alexander E. ?Alex,? 72, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday February 18, 2001 at home of A.L.S. He was born in Detroit, MI and has been a winter resident since 1994 from Traverse City, MI. He was a Programmer and Analyst for Ford Motor Company in Detroit. He served in the Navy during WWII and was a forty-year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wayne, MI. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Clara L.; one daughter, Sharon Williams, Plymouth, MI; two sons: Brian, Traverse City, MI; and Mark, Asheville, NC; two grandchildren, Andrew and Amy Winton, Traverse City, MI; and one sister, Muriel Poirier, Topeka, KS. Those who wish may make donations to the A.L.S. Tampa Bay Chapter Lou Gehrig's, 3641 W. Kennedy Blvd. #C, Tampa, FL 33609.
