July 7th, 1947 - September 17th, 2013
Alfred "Fred" E. Gibbons, 66, of Nampa, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 of natural causes. He was born on July 7, 1947 in Wendell, Idaho as Alfred Stowell. After his father died at the age of 3, he had many colorful stories to tell about living in Glenns Ferry, Cascade and other places before being adopted by his aunt Edrie Gibbons. He graduated from Meridian high school in 1965 and served in the Navy from 1967-1971. Fred retired from the Micron Technology after 15 years to pursue his hobbies in fishing, hunting, traveling, and gardening, gardening, and gardening!!! Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Tammy Harpt, son John Gibbons, son-in-law Terry Harpt, grandsons Mikey & Jake Harpt, brothers, Doug Stowell & Ken Gibbons, sisters, Barbara Luter, Susan Sandwick, Irys Gibbons, & Joan Glinn, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends. He was preceded in death by parents Edward & Katherine Stowell and Edrie & Thomas (Red) Gibbons, brothers Edward Stowell, Bill Saleen, Jim Saleen, Merrill Saleen, Tobe Gibbons, sisters Pat Rankin, Betty McDaniel, & Alfredia Smith. Viewing will be at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell Tuesday, September 24, 2013, 5:00-8:00 PM. Memorial Service is Wednesday, Sept 25, 2013, 11:00 AM with potluck to follow; both are at Meridian United Methodist Church. All are welcome. He was the ultimate grandfather, best friend brother, favorite uncle, funny cousin, and "best guy you ever knew" to everyone who ever met him. Heaven has truly gained an angel this week. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made in Alfred's name to the Idaho Youth Ranch. Service Information
