Alice DuFrene

Alice J. DuFrene of Ione, CA, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the age of 102. Alice was born on a ranch above Volcano in the Charleston district on June 26, 1912 to the late Barton and Julia Sutton. She attended Jackson Elementary and High schools and taught school in Amador County for 35 years. Alice enjoyed family and friends, loved to read, garden, and cook for holidays. Alice is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Ralph; daughter Patricia Holgate; and granddaughter Katherine Dedic. Alice is survived by her son, Gene (Lil) DuFrene of Ione; grandchildren, David (Regina) Schmidt of Jackson, Mark (Kelly) DuFrene of Galt, Gina (Norman) Martin of Linden, Michael Schmidt of San Francisco, Josh Hunter of Graeagle, and Brittney Crary of Santa Barbara; great grandchildren, Judith Schmidt, Jacob Schmidt, Jenna (Julian) Rodriguez, Thomas Martin, Douglas (Holly) Dedic, Brandon Linder, and Haley Linder-Barcelos; and great great grandchildren, Bryson Dedic and Hayden Dedic. She is also survived by son-in-law Richard Holgate of Vacaville, and grandson-in-law Joe Dedic of Jackson. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service at Daneri Mortuary on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 10:00 A.M.
