Alice “Peg” Jolicoeur was born on September 2, 1926, in Superior, Wisconsin, where she attended St Francis Catholic School. She was the second youngest of nine children (six girls and three boys). In her teens, she worked at the shipyard as a burner and also as a waitress. On May 15, 1947, she married Gilbert Richard Hudson and they moved across the country to settle in Everett, Washington, where Gil’s mother and sister lived. A few years after their three children were born the family moved to Federal Way and then in 1965, they moved to Orting, Washington, and purchased a service station, garage and frozen food lockers. After her husband passed away in 1976, she worked at McMahon Evergreens making wreaths, the Orting Fish Hatchery tagging salmon and the Rhubarb Association trimming rhubarb. She also worked for Ozzie Williams picking daffodils and at a Mushroom farm in Lacey. In 1986, she was hired as a custodian for the Orting School District. She retired five years later and decided to return to her hometown of Superior, Wisconsin, to spend time with her sisters. In 2002, Peg decided to return to Orting. Peg loved doing crafts of many kinds. She enjoyed making miniature furniture and wooden dollhouses. She also was musically inclined and loved to play the accordian and organ. One of her favorite hobbies was oil painting. She was also an avid photographer who could take, develop and enlarge photos. Peg was the track photographer for Spanaway Speedway for a number of years. As her sight began to fail due to Macular Degeneration, she was no longer able to do the hobbies she loved so much. However, she was still able to walk to the senior center for lunch four days a week and play solitaire on her computer. She is survived by her children Sharon (David) Ettenhofer, Bradley (Aletha) Hudson and Ramona (Ron) Moan, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three sisters. Please join us for a funeral service at 11:00 am February 9, at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church in Orting. Interment will follow at the Orting Cemetery. Donations suggested to Orting Senior Center. Love and Prayers Always!
