Alice Mae Krohn

Mrs. Alice Mae Krohn, 87, of Jackson Vly Road, Broadalbin, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Amsterdam on December 5, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Sanford and Magdaline Stangle Sherman. A lifelong area resident, Alice was a graduate of Galway High School and was employed as a seamstress for the former Martin Jay Dress Shop for many years. She enjoyed going to the various casinos especially Saratoga Gaming & Raceway with her late husband, daughter and son in law. Above all she loved her family dearly and spending time with them, especially her granddaughters and great grandson. On June 28, 1945 she was united in marriage to Jacob O. "Jack" Krohn. That union lasted 64 years until his passing on September 25, 2009. Survivors include her only daughter, Debra Wells and her husband Robert of the Town of Broadalbin; two granddaughters, Melissa Cornell and her husband Jeff of Johnstown and Megan Wells and David Sherman of Town of Broadalbin; one great grandson, Ethan Cornell; one brother, John Sherman and his wife Shirley of Saucier, Mississippi; two sisters, Dorothy Bombard of Broadalbin and Ruth Armer of Hudson, Florida; one sister in law, Mary Phillips of Pattersonville; best friends; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 10 o'clock at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Cynthia Leonard presiding. Interment will follow in the Galway Village Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday from 5 until 7p.m. at the funeral home.
