August 17th, 1915 - April 16th, 2010
"Holyoke - Alice B. (Avery) St. John, 94, formerly of Dartmouth Street in South Hadley, died on April 16, 2010 in Holyoke, MA. She was born August 17, 1915 in Kingston, NH, daughter of Ernest and Jessie (Clark) Avery. Alice grew up in Newton Junction, NH and lived most of her married life in South Hadley Falls, a few years in Portsmouth, NH and Granby, MA. She was formerly attended Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a member of Newton Junction Baptist Church in NH. She is survived by a daughter, Marie O. Fortier and her husband William of Crestview, FL, a sister Olive E. Avery and a brother Wilton O. Avery and his wife Dorothy all of Newton Junction, NH. She will also be missed by four grandchildren Jacqueline Schnackertz and husband Ted of Tyngsboro, MA, Michael Fortier and his wife Lisa of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Eric Rivers of Graham, WA and Rene Rivers of San Francisco, CA also six great grandchildren, Jessica and husband Wiktor, Morgan, Joseph, Michael, Kevin and Marissa. She also leaves one great great granddaughter Julia and several nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her husband Rene W. St. John in 1973 and a daughter Christine A. Rivers in 1986. The family of Alice wishes to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at Mont Marie Health Care for all of their loving care. Services will be held at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, April 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Notre Dame Cemetery. A Calling hour will be Tuesday from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to Mont Marie Health Care Center, 36 Lower Westfield, Rd., Holyoke, MA 01040 or to a charity of ones choice. "
