Sending lots of love and hugs to the Walter family. Your family was special to us. Your mom made me laugh so many times...such a dry delivery! Helen was such a beautiful person inside and out. I have known her all my life. People thought I was nuts to drive 40 miles to get my hair cut after Steve and Helen moved to Canon City but I knew it was worth it! I am proud to say the Walter family, the Hamilton family and the Coffee family have made many memories together! We have spent a lot of hours camping and playing cards together! She will be truly missed but know that she and Steve and my dad are up there preparing a big card game! Rest in Peace Helen and thoughts and prayers for the family! Love Laurie HamiltonCrandall

Julia Peck

I will remember her as my favorite Eagle Hills Elementary School teacher who made me feel smart, special, and appreciated. I will remember her as the neighbor who worked the farm and field behind our house. She always welcomed a visit, patiently explaining the whys and hows of farming to a curious girl (thank you, Mrs. Peck for straightening me out about Rocky Mountain oysters). And I will remember her as the kind friend who gave the newlywed me and my husband furniture from her cabin so that we would have a chair and sofa to sit on in our first apartment. Love you and miss you, Mrs. Peck!

I visited Julia's cabin with Sally Rutledge, a few years back, and Julia said her cabin always helped with any problem. She said that one time she was at the cabin and it couldn't solve this problem. By the time she left the problem had been solved! During the spring of her final year of teaching, she would stroll in a bit late and said what are they going to do? Fire me! We laughed so hard! I loved her wonderful sense of humor!

I was saddened to learn of the passing of one of my favorite teachers today. Mrs. Peck was my first grade teacher at Eagle Hills Elementary back in 1983-84. I loved having her for a teacher. She made learning so much fun, and I thrived in her classroom. I even kept in touch with her in my high school years as I was a mentor for elementary students at Eagle Hills in my senior year. She definitely had an impact on my life, and she is one of the reasons I am who I am today. I am very sorry for the family's loss and will keep her and them in my thoughts and prayers.

To the Hart family and friends How painful it is to lose to death someone that we love! How comforting is the hope of resurrection! In fact, in Acts 24:15, the apostle Paul under inspiration wrote:' And I have hope toward God,[...]that there is going to be a resurrection.' How joyful will it be to see them again, to hug them and shed tears with them, but this time they will be tears of joy! May this hope help you cope.

I recently read about the loss of your dear loved one. Although we are not acquainted personally, please accept my condolences. Losing a dear loved one can leave a very empty space in one’s life. Please find strength, hope, and comfort in the God of Comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4).

of the 7 navy reunions my husband,edward bobal andi attended,joe was one of the first he always enquired about.when we arrived, and everyone had such a good time.joes wife virginia, i and lois adcock,bonded right away.i would like to imagine joe and virginia are again joined together as they were in life..........im going to miss joes emails...........he stayed in touch even after lising virginia...........i hope all the plank holders are again having another reunion in heaven......................all are missed.

Joe was a fellow graduate from Bushwick H.S. in Brooklyn in Jan 1950, He was my date for Senior Nite, which was a big deal because we did not have a prom that year. I have not seen Joe since graduation, but we were e mail buddies we used to exchange all kinds of information, jokes, political opinions, etc. I will miss his name from my list. May he rest in peace.

My condolences for the loss of your father. For as much time as I spent at the Klinger house in Califiornia, he was a father to me too. I will always smile when I think about the variety of greetings that your Dad offered me as a young person. My favorite was " El Greco".

Thank You Nina! Joe was a really good man, father and friend...he gave us each his all and he will be sorely missed, until we meet again.

We can't thank you enough Nick for all of your friendship and support that you and the crew shared with our father. My Dad loved his friendships with you and all the other guys that spent time aboard the LST 1156. The reunions were always a blast for Joe and Virginia and the many stories that followed were always a joy to hear. My Dad had amazing faith and never feared death and always believed the best was yet to come, so I have no doubt that all is well and that we will all meet again and pick up right where we left off.

From the very first time I met Shirley, she made me feel totally accepted and part of the family. She loved Jesus, her family, and friends with all her heart. She was always there to help no matter what. I have never met a more selfless woman. She was gentle and strong at the same time. She was always positive and I never once heard her complain. I will miss her beautiful smile! We thank the Lord for blessing us with such a beautiful lady. She truly leaves the world a better place. I love you and miss you already.
