Amalia Soto
April 25th, 1933 - February 6th, 2018
Amalia Ramirez Soto, 84, of Greeley passed away February 6, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born April 25, 1933 in Santa Anna, TX to Joseph and Elena (Montabol) Ramirez. Amalia loved to sew, crochet, cross stitch, making dresses for baby girls and making her own clothes. She enjoyed making the best tortillas and cinnamon rolls. She instilled in her children the importance of working for what we want and need. There were many times that we accompanied her in the field work at Millers Market, picking tomatoes, chili and watermelons. The best part was sharing a watermelon that the farmers accidentally dropped. We so enjoyed the fresh scent of tortillas, the pot of beans and fried potatoes that were waiting for us when we got home from school. The way that she accepted all the grandchildren that were placed into her arms, the hand made crafts that she gave to each and everyone of us, crocheted dollies, quilts and so many other things that held love into every stich. The tears that she shed after realizing that her time with us was short, afraid of taking that journey but brave enough to comfort her children. Amalia was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic church and always believed in her faith. She was a father and mother to her children and worked hard to provide everything for them and made sure they came before she did. The family would like to thank Kevin Allen for his support and special contributions. She is survived by her children Dale (Allen) Bechle, Gloria (Adam) Vega, Johnny(Crystal) Garcia, Julie (Beto)Borrego and Tony(Pat) Garcia, her grandchildren; David and Kelly Knight, Gerald and Nena Vega, Melissa Garcia, Jennifer Kincheloe, Joseph Ruiz, Marylou Johnson, Junior Ruiz, Rosie Schumaker, Tony Garcia, Jr., Brian, Lenny and Diana Garcia, Floyd Craig and Cindy Williams, her siblings; Phillip, Billy, Linda and Alice Garcia, Josie Ramirez-Baros and Dora Ramirez-Garcia. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Amelia, Lupe, Irene, Rosita Ramirez and brother Roy Ramirez, Visitation will be from 5-6:30PM Monday February 12, 2018 with Rosary at 7 both at Adamson Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30a.m. Tuesday February 13, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1311 3rd St. Interment will be at Linn Grove Cemetery.
