Amy Lake

Amy L. Lake, 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at her Sprakers home with her loving family and loyal dogs by her side. Amy was born to the late Emmanuel and Edna (Laverdore) Valachovic of Gloversville on November 6, 1947. She attended Catholic schools, graduating from Bishop Burke High School. Amy was employed as a secretary for various doctors and veterinary offices in the local area over the years. In her free time Amy enjoyed spending time at the barn with her animals, cooking her favorite recipes for family gatherings and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Amy is survived by her three loving sons, Shawn (Teresa) Lake of Fort Plain, Scott (Beth) Lake of Wake Forest, NC and William (Betsy) Lake of Fonda. She adored her four grandchildren, Olivia, Brody, Quincy and Liam, who affectionately called her "Monka." Amy is also survived by her sister, Evon Woodruff of Gloversville; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Amy will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor and smile that could light up a room. She had a very generous nature and was always willing to go above and beyond for her family, friends and acquaintances. An avid animal lover, Amy will be best known for the unwavering devotion she showed to her pets, rescue/shelter organizations and any wild animal that she felt needed her help. At Amy's request, there will be no formal service; an intimate gathering is being planned for a later date.
