Amy Clifford Taylor Wiggers peacefully passed away on September 19, at her home on Merritt Island, FL; she was 95. Amy was born on July 26, 1918, in Saginaw, Michigan to Marjorie Rosamond Alger Taylor and Mark Cornell Taylor. She grew up in Detroit where she attended Cass Tech and worked as a keypunch operator for General Motors and the railroads. In 1943 Amy enlisted in the US Army where she served as a recruiter stationed at Truax Field, Wisconsin. She then servedas a radio operator with the 8th Air Force in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England from May, 1944, through September, 1945. She was honorably discharged on January 21, 1946, and on April 16, 1946, Amy married her late husband of 63 years, CliffordWiggers(LCOL USAF Ret.,d. October 17, 2009), in his hometown of Bloomington, IL. They spent the next 28 years on various stateside and overseas assignments, including 12 consecutive years in metropolitan Washington, DC. In April, 1964, Amy’s only treatment for breast cancerwas a radical mastectomy. Despite the initial discomfort and her scar, she never regretted the surgery. Amy and Cliff retired in Cocoa Beach in 1974, and forseveral years they operated collectibles shops in Cocoa Village. Amy’s son, Cliff Jr., passed away July 13, 2010;Amy is survived by her daughter, Andrea, of Cocoa Beach. Special thanks go to Amy’s devoted caregivers at Senior Care of Brevard, La Casa Assisted Living Facility & Memory Care, and Vitas Hospice. Amy’s caregiversloved andconnected with her in ways meaningful to her. Especiallyappreciated is the safe, supportive and loving home that La Casa’s entire staff provided for Amybeginning in August, 2011. She felt blessed to be“surrounded by the whole family. “ If you would like to honor Amy’s memory, consider some of what she believed to be important: follow the Golden Rule, take the high road, love unconditionally, smile – especially if you don’t feel like it, read constantly, do a good deed daily, generously share blessings, walkevery day, laugh often and heartily, recite the Lord’s Prayer when you wake up and before you go to sleep and in between, eat lots offresh fruits and vegetables (especially asparagus, spinach and broccoli),avoid processed foods – make it from scratch (because not only is it better for you, it costs less), and take plenty of vitamins. Given her age, Amy may have been on to something. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at Brevard Memorial Park on Friday September 27, 2013 at 9:30 A.M.
