Anderson "Pat" Perryman age 66 of Saint Paul passed away on May 12, 2016. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Monday May 23rd. Anderson Patrick Perryman Jr, known to most as Pat, was born December 17, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois to Anderson and Lois Perryman. The older of 2 siblings, Pat attended St. Columbanus Grammar School and Leo and Hales Franciscan High School. After high school he enlisted in the US Army and served in Okanawa, Japan from 1967-1970. After his service, he returned to Chicago and married his first wife Helen in 1972. They had his first child Lynne. In 1974, Pat moved to Minnesota to attend college where he met and married his second wife Lory in 1978. Together they had 3 children; Maureen, Anderson III (Dusty), and Adrian. He married his third wife Jean 1998. If you asked Pat, he would say that he did not fit in and he was shy. According to his sister Lynn he was the cool kid. Throughout elementary school she didn’t mind just being “Pat’s little sister”, he was also known as “Flash” because of his speed. In high school he excelled in track as a sprinter; he won several first place medals and trophies. During the Vietnam War Pat served as a communications specialist in Okinawa Japan. Music was probably the common thread through Pat’s life. He first discovered music when his mother, an English teacher, taught him to play the bass line to Blue Moon by The Marcels. His mother often took him and his sister to stage shows. Throughout his teen years Pat attended live concerts at the Regal in Chicago, he saw James Brown there several times. You could say music became the true love of his life. He saw so many concerts including several Motown artists, The Temptations, Chicago, The Doors, Alice Cooper, Natalie Cole, Marvin Gaye and Bob Marley. He loved rock and roll as well as Jazz and the Blues. Didn’t matter the type, to him good music was good music. He told the story of how he had the opportunity to go to Woodstock but for whatever reason he didn’t make it; which ended up being a good thing because the people he was to go with never returned. He idolized Jimi Hendrix and probably knew anything and everything anyone needed to know about him. He also loved to read. He preferred mostly non-fiction and biographies about musicians, baseball players and old school gangsters. He loved baseball. When he went to baseball games he kept his own score card. Pat also enjoyed working with people with disabilities and counseling people with chemical dependency issues which he struggled with for part of his life. Later in his life he pushed himself to be a part of Arizona Theatre Company in Minneapolis where he participated in the play, Honey Drippers; he was very proud of this. He also produced an internet radio show with his son Adrian where he showcased his favorite songs. Pat had several medical issues. His heart was tired and he succumbed to his illnesses on Thursday May 12, 2016. He is preceded in death by his father Anderson Sr. and mother Lois. He leaves behind his sister Lynn Perryman, his children Lynne Perryman, Maureen Bowman (Joseph), Anderson Perryman III (Maya), Adrian Perryman (Sarah), nephew Neil Perryman (Liz), grandchildren Lauren Alexander, Autumn Stewart, Damian Perryman and Myles Bowman, and several extended family members. He also leaves behind a host of friends. Whether he believed it or not he left his mark on this world and in our hearts. You will be forever missed!

Spielman Mortuary

Spielman Mortuary

Spielman Mortuary has been helping Saint Paul families since 1950 when Kenneth and Helen Spielman purchased the National Funeral Home. For over 30 years, the couple lived above the funeral home and took just one vacation. They sold the home in 1984 to the Willwerscheid family. We still operate Spielman Mortuary with the same traditions of pride, sensitivity, value, and attention to detail that the Spielmans followed for over three decades....
