Andrew Chiappara
August 29th, 1929 - May 25th, 2020
Andrew G. Chiappara age 90 passed away on Monday May 25, 2020, at his home in Venice, Fla., after a short illness, surrounded by his family. Born Andrew G. Chiappara on August 29, 1929, in Paterson, N.J., to Leucia la Carrubba and Antonio Chiappara. Andrew attended St. Anthony's grade school and Paterson High School. He served as a marine during the Korean War. After the war he attended and graduated from Rutgers University with a B.Sc. in Business Administration. Andrew worked for Glennshaw Glass Company for 40 years until his retirement in 2005. Andrew was married to Jane Kearns of Paterson, New Jersey for 64 years until her death in March 2019. Additionally, Andrew and his late wife Jane lived in Clifton and were longtime parishioners of Saint Philip the Apostle R.C. Church in Clifton, N.J., and were actively involved as volunteers on various parish committees. Andrew is survived by his beloved daughter, Patricia Millspaugh and her husband, Frederick; beloved son, Mark Chiappara; his five grandchildren, Christopher, Eric, Sarah, Eduardo and Gustavo, and his three great-grandchildren, Nixon, Elias, and Emilia. Andrew is also survived by his niece Loraine Martikes, her husband Peter; his brother-in-law Rev. Edward A. Kearns; his sister-in-law, Ellen Akersten, wife of Kurt; his nephew, Kurt Akersten Jr.; his niece, Mary Ellen McDermott, and seven grand-nieces and nephews. His life will be celebrated at Mass on Thursday, June 11, at 10 a.m. at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, Florida, followed by a viewing at 12:30 p.m. at Farley Funeral Home also in Venice, Florida.
