Andrew Adam Hebel
August 18th, 1946 - September 29th, 2017
Andrew A. Hebel, III, affectionately known as "Mick" peacefully passed away after a lengthy battle with IPF on Friday, September 29, 2017, at his home in Sun City Center, Florida. Mick was born on August 18, 1946 to Andrew A. Hebel, Jr. and Catherine Liesse and was raised in Peru, Illinois. He graduated in 1964 from St. Bede Academy in Peru and received his bachelor's degree in 1968 from St. Benedict's College in Atchison, Kansas. He played baseball on both teams, with much success. On June 15, 1968, Mick married Janet Baker. On May 7, 1969, he was enlisted in the U.S. Army. Before and after serving his country, Mick began his career in the family business at Peru Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Mick worked his way up and served as President of the Illinois Soft Drink Association. He left Coca-Cola in 1982 as Vice President of the Central States. He then became a Certified Financial PlannerĀ® and District Manager with American Express Financial Advisors (formerly IDS Financial Services) before ending his professional career in 2004 as their Field Vice-President of Illinois/Indiana and Kentucky. He resided in Morton, Illinois from 1978 to 1992, where he raised his three children. He married Ruby Carmody on September 25, 1992 before moving to Peoria, Illinois and then Indianapolis, Indiana, and settling in Sun City Center. After retiring from American Express, he worked with the Indianapolis DOT and devoted his time to improving the Avon Township transportation program for senior and disabled residents. Once in Florida, he volunteered extensively with SCC Emergency Squad (as Treasurer and squad member), Kings Point HOA (as a board member), the local memory screening program and the community tennis league. He will be remembered for his sound advice, dry wit and love for God, his family, the Chicago Cubs, playing tennis and helping others. Mick was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Baker, father, Andrew A. Hebel, Jr., step-father, William Pelton and several in-laws. Mick is survived by his wife, Ruby Carmody Hebel, his children, Lynn Ann Corniello, Tricia Lyn Eichler and Chad Eric Hebel, grandchildren, Trevor and Alexis Eichler and four step-grandchildren, mother, Catherine Pelton, siblings, Carol Hebel, Georgeanne Entwistle, Kathy Klopcic (Bill), Robert Hebel (MarLee), Donn Hebel, Stephen Hebel (Billie), Barbara Ianno (James) and Teri DeLeo (James), several step-siblings and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass for Mick is at 1:00p.m, Tuesday, October 17th at Prince of Peace Catholic Church 702 Valley Forge Blvd. Sun City Center, Florida. Father Mike from Indiana will be Celebrating the Mass. Immediately following the service there will be a Military Honors outside the church.
