Angelo Peter Hondros, 87, of Charlotte, NC died Monday, September 22, 2014. He was born June 20, 1927 in Karyes Lacadeimonos, Greece, son of the late Peter and Panagiota Samarge Hondros. Mr. Hondros was an Army veteran and he later became a restaurateur and owned Angelo's Restaurants. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He was also an active member of Adelphotis Arahoviton Karyae and a long time Mason. He loved cooking and gardening and was known for his colorful stories as well as his life. Angelo lived his life as his favorite song says, "I Did it My Way." Mr. Hondros is survived by his son, Peter Hondros and wife Christine of Matthews, NC; daughter, Pattie Robinson of Charlotte, NC; son, Nicholas Evan Hondros of Charlotte, NC; devoted companion, Joyce Cook of Statesville, NC; grandchildren, Angela Gorak and her husband Mike and John Hondros; and great-granddaughter Sophia Gorak. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hondros was preceded in death by his wife, Sophia Mamalis Hondros and his brother, John Hondros. There will be a gathering of friends and family at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The Trisagion service will begin at 11:30 AM and Funeral services at Noon with Father Gregory Georgiou officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to Emily Dunbar and Dr. Peter N. Copsis for their extraordinary care.
