Obituary Anita Idell Hawkins Doan Jenkins, of Berea, formerly a long time resident of Jackson, Kentucky, passed away Friday, September 10, 2010 at Britthaven Nursing Home at the age of 87. She was the loving wife of the late Hugh Emerson Jenkins and beloved mother of the late William Ray (Anita) Doan, Laura Frances Thompson of Hardinsburg, Kentucky and the late Specialist Richard Wayne Doan. Mrs. Jenkins was born December 27, 1922 in Hardinsburg, Kentucky to the late Wilda Rush Hawkins and the late Clay Hawkins. She was the third oldest of ten children. She was preceded in death by a brother, Elsie Hawkins and a sister, Julia Margaret Hawkins. Mrs. Jenkins is survived by a sister, Gladys Snyder of Colorado Springs, CO, a brother, Oliver (Joy) Hawkins of Springfield, KY, a sister, Doreen Fildes of Hardinsburg, KY, a brother, C.R. Hawkins of Hardinsburg, KY, a brother, Tommy (Louise) Hawkins of Albuquerque, NM, a sister Alice (Don) Hardcastle of Hardinsburg, KY, and a brother, Jerry (Jeannie) Hawkins of Amarillo, TX. Mrs. Jenkins was a homemaker and a faithful servant to the Lord. Mrs. Jenkins was the beloved "Grandma" and "Nini" of Commander William R. (Jean) Doan II of Chesapeake, VA, Troy F. (Donna) Thompson of Brooksville, FL, Anita Diane (Lin) Davidson, Powell, TN, Karyn Hawksley (Ernest) Smith of Minneapolis, MS, Bonnie L. Haymaker of Tell City, IN, Robin Doan (J.R.) Wilder of Berea, KY and Seaman Charles Joseph Doan of Bremerton, WA. Mrs. Jenkins was the great-grand-mother to David K. Doan, Kevin T. Doan William Ryan Doan, all of Chesapeake, VA; Tyler Thompson, Cody E. Thompson and Sage D. Thompson of Brooksville, FL; Jordan L. Davidson, of Powell, TN; Matthew E. Smith of Chicago, IL, Daniel P. Smith of Post Falls, ID, Alison R. Smith of Vernon, CT Justin T. Hawksley, Richmond, KY; Megan L. Haymaker of Hardinsburg, KY, Amber L. Haymaker of Bradenburg, KY and Ryan Thompson of Tell City, IN; Jarrod L. Wilder Rachel L. Wilder of Berea, KY. Mrs. Jenkins is survived by one great-great-grand-child Allie Rae Hardesty of Hardinsburg, KY. Mrs. Jenkins is preceded in death by two great-grand-children, Kenneth Brian Thompson and Matthew Doan Wilder. The Family of Mrs. Anita H. Jenkins would like to thank Hospice of Somerset and all who have prayed for and supported Mrs. Jenkins during her illness. Funeral Information A private memorial service is planned to celebrate the life of this loved woman in December 2010 and at her home Church of Hites Run, Kentucky in the near future.
