Ann E. Knowlton
March 10th, 1931 - January 18th, 2018
KNOWLTON, (Harriet) Ann Eyman, 86, joined her beloved parents Carl and Ila Eyman and infant son David, Jr., on January 18, 2018. She will be missed by her children, Peggy Huey, Susan Loader (Bill), Virginia (Ginny) Faulkner, and Daniel Knowlton; grandchildren Jenifer Lathery (Jeff), Katrina Harris, George Faulkner (Mindy), Kimberly Knowlton, Sydney Knowlton, and Daniel Knowlton, Jr.; and great-grandchildren Chris Lathery, James Lathery, Avery Henson, Malakhi Harris, and Jazmyn Harris. Born in Perry County, Ohio, Ann grew up on a farm between Rushville and Somerset, and graduated from Somerset High School, Class of 1949, along with her best friend Peggy VanSickle Dittoe. She named her first daughter after that friend. Ann married David J. Knowlton (d. 1993) in 1951; they lived for a while in Columbus, Ohio, before moving down to Cincinnati and eventually purchasing a home in Harrison, Ohio, where they raised three daughters before finally adding a son to the family. For many of these years, Ann worked as a bookkeeper for a local trucking firm, instilling a love for attention to detail in her children. In 1976, Ann, Dave, and Dan moved south to escape Ohio’s cold winters, ending up in Sarasota, Florida, where Ann worked as a jewelry sales clerk for Maas Brothers before landing a job with the Sarasota County Tax Collector, working for ten years selling auto tags. She finally retired in 1995. In 2005, she moved into Lakeshore Villa, a senior living community now called Renaissance in Tampa, where she delighted in swimming, interacting with the people living there, and publishing the community newsletter. Declining health eventually necessitated her move to the Memory Care Unit of the community, where she found more friends in the residents and staff of the unit. Ann will be interred later in the West Rushville Cemetery in Rushville, Ohio. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Renaissance’s Memory Care Unit, but especially Judith, Sophia, Rose, Maria, Jolene, Coa Coa, and Dwayne, for making Ann’s last days more comfortable. Contributions in Ann’s memory may be made to LifePath Hospice in Hillsborough County, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa FL.
