Ann McGeever

Ann “Nancy” Mary McGeever (aka Callinan) 79, formerly of Garnerville, NY passed away peacefully on June 18, 2018 in Bethlehem, PA. She was born on September 1, 1938 in Manhattan, NY to John and Anna (Reddington) McGeever, who were both from Swinford, County Mayo, Ireland. Raised in the Bronx, Ann attended St Vincent Ferrar High School in Manhattan and was also a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, NY and attended classes at Pace University Graduate School of Business. Ann worked in the Investment Management industry for a number of years in Manhattan and Chatham, NJ while living in Madison, NJ. In 1994, Ann pursued her life-long dream of moving to Ireland and settled in the beautiful countryside of Renvyle, Connemara, County Galway. While living in Renvyle, she worked as an administrator at Kylemore Abbey School for Girls until its closure in 2010. In her spare time, Ann loved gardening, music, movies, walking the hills and beaches of Connemara, her dog Pax and traveling (particularly in Europe and Asia). She especially loved spending time with her family and her eight grandchildren. Ann is survived by her loving sons, Dennis (Kathy) Callinan of Sloatsburg, NY, John (Donna) Callinan of Oradell, NJ and James (Jean) Callinan of Stewartsville, NJ. Her grandchildren: Alexandra, Emma, Patrick, Kelly, Jack, Kevin (Charlene) Satera, Savannah and Ryan Callinan. She is also survived by her sister Theresa Norton of Florham Park, NJ, sister-in-law Janet McGeever of Stony Point, NY, brother-in-law Frederick Norton of Livingston, NJ and sister-in-law Nancy McGeever of Bronx, NY as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, who loved her dearly. “Beidh muid ag gra agat go deo” Gaelic for “We will love you forever”. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday June 22, 2018 from 2-4pm and 7-9 PM at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ann on Saturday June 23, 2018 10AM at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville with interment to follow in St Peter’s Cemetery in Haverstraw.
