Beckman-Williamson Funeral Homes & Crematory - Cocoa Beach
Ann Prieston
July 31st, 1926 - March 2nd, 2017
Ann (nee Salvarlis) died on March 2 from complications of a stroke she suffered three years ago. She was 90 and passed away in her Coach Beach, FL home. Born Joanna to George Salvarlis and Helen Plingos, she was raised in the city she loved the most, New York. Ann has lived in Cocoa Beach, Florida for the past 35 years, with her husband Lt. Col. George Prieston USAF, deceased in 1998. Before that she lived in Ridgewood, NJ, where she raised her four children. As the wife of a career officer, Ann and her family crossed the U.S. many times, as George, a meteorologist, was stationed on a variety of Air Force bases. She was a generous friend with an encyclopedic memory, a lover of music, a voracious reader and writer, and was passionate about her Greek heritage. She had a near obsession with her children and maintained an active participation in her church and with her faith. She is survived by her children Nike (and husband Jim Bach) of Leonia, NJ, Eleni of Sag Harbor, NY, George of Blue Bell, PA, and Jason (and daughter-in-law Claudia) of Sag Harbor, NY. She was a devoted Yiayia/grandmother to six grandchildren and a new great grandchild. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive her. Services will be held at St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 5965 N. Wickham Road in Melbourne, FL on Monday, March 6 at 11AM. Donations may be given in her memory to the charity of your choice or to St. Katherine’s. You may sign Ann’s guestbook at www.beckman-williamson.com
