Anna Lee Abercrombie, 86, passed away on December 14, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert O. Abercrombie, her sister Joan Gail Akers, her mother Eunice Akers and her step-father, Forrest Akers. Anna was born in 1936 in Floyd County, Kentucky. Growing up in eastern Kentucky led her to Mayo Business College in Paintsville, Kentucky where she received her Associates degree. After graduating she moved to Dayton, Ohio in 1958 where she began her career at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Little did she know that she would meet the love of her life at the office. She married Herbert in 1968 and they spent 53 fun filled years filled with adventure never leaving each other’s side until his death in 2021. After spending more than 25 years working for the United States Air Force, she and Herb moved permanently to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1984. They had vacationed there for many years prior. Anna loved their life in their condo at Bay Island where they had many friends. She enjoyed traveling, shopping at Dillard’s, which was her favorite store, visiting with family, collecting Swarovski crystal critters, drinking Herb’s world famous fuzzy navels and giving the best advice. She was a fantastic cook and candy maker. Christmas time saw her kick into high gear, delivering her goodies to friends and neighbors. Her chocolate walnut fudge, buckeyes and cherry cheesecake were beyond compare. Her many recipes have been passed down to her family. Every time we make them, which will be often, we will remember the joy and love that Anna brought to our lives. We will miss her so much. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay, https://bocaciegabay.watermarkcommunities.com/ or Suncoast Hospice Foundation, www.empathhealth.org/foundations. The care of Mrs. Abercrombie and her family has been entrusted to David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the 6366 Central Avenue location in St. Petersburg.
