Anna Gentile

Mrs. Anna Gentile, 78, of Bunn Street passed away at St. Mary?s Hospital, Thursday evening after a long illness. Born in Reggio Calabria, Italy on September 27, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Marianna Lana Ambesi. As an infant she moved to Amsterdam, where she made her home and raised her children. Mrs. Gentile was employed at Bigelow Sanford and later Amsterdam Memorial Hospital, where she worked in the housekeeping department; retiring in 1981. Mrs. Gentile was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. She was first predeceased by her husband, Theodore Gentile, and two daughters Angelina Donaldson and Patricia Gentile. Her loving family includes: two sons, Theodore Gentile and his wife Mary of Broadalbin, New York and James Gentile of Staten Island, New York; one daughter, Annamarie Dicaprio and her husband Richard of Wichita, Kansas; one brother, Anthony Ambesi and his wife Shirley of Schenectady, New York; three grandchildren, Kelly Grybos and her husband Robert of Amsterdam, Tony DiCaprio of Wichita, Kansas and Ryan DiCaprio and his wife Pam of Wichita, Kansas; five great grandchildren, Jennifer, Megan, Skylar, Aaron and Allan Marcus and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 8:15a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 58 Grove Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. Lawrence Decker as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Michael?s Cemetery, Amsterdam. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
