On March 20, 2021 an Angel received her wings. Anna Irene Schumann was born in Red Hook, Brooklyn on March 27, 1928 to a German Father, Charles Schumann, and an Irish mother, Irene Farrell. She was an only child that was raised with an older foster sister, Alice, and a younger foster brother, Larry. Their tight knit open-armed family engulfed many relatives and friends. Anna’s upbringing and heritage instilled strong values of loyalty and strength. She had immense love for her children, family, friends, and her Catholic Faith. From 1942 to 1956 she worked for Continental Canning and Coffee Co. Supporting the WWII effort, they produced ration cans with coffee, and ammunition tins for the American Soldiers. Ann was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Gregg who she met at a neighborhood gathering. Here they shared together the new invention of the television to watch” The Uncle Miltie’s Show”. They moved to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn where they raised two sons Raymond and Albert. Ann and Raymond were also blessed with 5 grandchildren, Marissa and her husband Stephen Pashley, Christina, Ray and his wife Colleen, Irene and Matthew. Ann is also survived by six Great Grandchildren, Ryan, Christian, Brayden, Kaelyn, Bentley, R.J. and one on the way. She could crochet 100MPH as well as drive at a similar speed. As her job she cared for children many whom she influenced tremendously. She was an active Lady Democrat, a 45 year Lady Elk and a former secretary. She will be missed by many having left smiles and memories from her quick wit, wisdom, advice, caring, and most of all the love she had for so many people. Surely, she will be saving a place at the table for us all. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 28th, 4-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY 10923. Graveside service will be held on Monday, March 29th, 11am, at St. Peter's Cemeter, Route 9W, Haverstraw, NY 10927.
