Anna Suits

Mrs. Anna Suits, 89, of Montgomery Street, Fultonville, NY died peacefully on November 20, 2018 surrounded by her family at St. Mary’s Hospital. Born in Ephratah, New York on May 15, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Armetta Saltsman Bennett. A lifelong area resident, Anna was known as the “Mayor of Fultonville” and enjoyed talking on the phone and was actively involved in the community. Anna worked hard all of her life and was employed at Beechnut, The Truckstop and the Cloristery Adult Home. On November 9, 1946 she was united in marriage to Raymond “Schuyler” Suits. That union lasted 32 years until his passing on December 28, 1978. She was also predeceased by her sons-in-law, Albert Cole, Terry Rouse, William LaPort Sr.; and two grandchildren, Tina Suits and William LaPort Jr. Over the years, Anna was active in the Glen- Mohawk Seniors, a volunteer for FFAVAC and a member of the Fultonville United Methodist Women’s Group. She was also a member of the Fultonville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the Montgomery County Women’s Auxiliary. Above all, she loved her family and considered “everyone her favorite” will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her six children, Jean Cole of Canajoharie, Jim Suits of Fultonville, Bob (Linda) Suits of Mayfield, Deborah LaPort of Northville, Bea Rouse of Fonda, Peter (Cheryl) Suits of Shrewsbury, MA; nine grandchildren, Michael (Nancy) Cole, Tony (Julie) Cole, Jeremy (Michelle) Suits, Tabitha (Brian) Edwards, Mandy (Jon) Taggart, Raymond (Jamie) LaPort, Heather LaPort, Sarah (Max) Spritzer, Adam Suits; fifteen great grandchildren, Garrett Johnson, Shayla Cole, Lucas Cole, Mackenzie Ruszkowski, Isabella Suits, Adalyn Suits, Samantha Edwards, Sophie Edwards, Searria Edwards, Dana Taggart, Natalie LaPort, Oscar LaPort, Jenna Laport, Talia Spritzer, Larson Spritzer; one great great granddaughter Isabella Deming; and many cousins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11a.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda, NY. A calling hour will precede the funeral beginning at 10a.m. Everyone is invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mohawk Valley Dialysis Center or the Glen-Mohawk Seniors in her memory.
