Mrs. Anna M. Vandenburgh, 88, of Fonda, NY, passed away Monday February 23, 2015 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. She was born November 14, 1926 in Fonda, the daughter of Frank and Julia Cassella. She was a lifelong Fonda resident and attended Fonda-Fultonville Schools. Anna was employed as a cook for many years at the Auriesville Shrine Retreat House in Auriesville, NY. She also worked as a cook at the former Hands Diner in Fonda until her retirement a number of years ago. She was a Parishioner of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church in Fonda, NY. Mrs. Vandenburgh enjoyed reading and playing cards with her family. She married Frederick Vandenburgh who passed away in 1973. Survivors include her son, David Vandenburgh of Fonda, NY. One brother, Thomas Casella and a niece, Antoinette Ambrosino. She was predeceased by her parents, Julia and Frank Cassella and her son Mark Vandenburgh in 1999. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 11:00A.M. at the Jackson and Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville, NY with Fr. Robert DeMartinis presiding. Interment will take place in the spring at St Cecilia's Cemetery. Calling hours are private. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinati, OH 45250-0301.
