March 29th, 1937 - March 29th, 2008
Anne Hovell Dew of St. Petersburg passed away at her home on her 71st birthday, Saturday, March 29, 2008 with her family around her. She had waged a short, courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of John C. Dew and the couple would have celebrated their 50th Anniversay on April 5. Anne was born in New York City to A.C. and Lillian Hovell. She attended Friends Academy in Locust Valley, Long Island; Mary C. Wheeler School in Providence, RI and Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. She received her B.A. from Eckerd College and her M.S. from Nova University. Anne and her husband moved to St Petersburg in 1959 after his graduation from law school at the University of Virginia, to join his father's law firm, Harris, Barrett and Dew it is now Harris, Barrett, Mann and Dew. Anne was a licensed mental health counselor and published author of Emotional Transformation. She was also an accomplished water colorist and oil painter. In recent years she had acquired a new passion - photography and focused on fine arts photography. She was devoted to Jesus and His work, and touched many people's lives through her faith as a spiritual leader and counselor in the community. For the past several years, Anne and her husband had divided their time between their homes in St. Petersburg and Highlands, N.C. She was a member of the Junior League of St Petersburg. She was a volunteer of All Children's Hospital and donated hundreds of professional hours for clients in need of counseling. Anne was a devoted mother to her six children: Christopher, Peter, Holly Marc Levasseur and Tiffany John Babb of St. Petersburg and Heather Jim Inman of Fort Mill, S. C. and Clearwater and Jonathan Jennifer of Atlanta. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren: Olivia, Harlow, Ella, Jack, Alexa, Jett, Arielle, Amelia, Emma, Charlie, Sophia, Quinn, Chris, Heidi, Casey, Holly and Charles cq. A brother, Peter Hovell of Darien, CT and a sister Lynne Hoe of Tulsa, OK also survive her. The Family will receive friends, Tuesday, April 1, 2008 from 4 - 6 PM at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 2201-Dr. MLK St. N, St Petersburg 727-822-2059. A Funeral service will take place Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Praise Cathedral Church located at 4371-76th Ave North, Pinellas Park. 727-544-3293. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Memory of Anne Dew and the life she led to Praise Cathedral, Suncoast Hospice, All Children's Hospital, or "The Jesus Film Project".
