All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
Anne Tauriello
October 7th, 1932 - December 18th, 2018
Anne Tauriello, of Denver, beloved wife of Daniel, her husband of 53 years before his passing ten years ago; mother of Lisa, Daniel, Michael (Angelica) & Paul (Heidi); grandmother of Marisa (Lisa), Jeffrey (Michael), and Danielle & Max (Paul); sister of Rose Donahue, of Boston, MA, died Tuesday, December 18th, 2018. She was preceded in death by her sister, Agnes Shriver, of Casper, WY; and her brother Paul McGarrigle, of Houston, TX. Anne was born in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston, MA, to James Edward and Agnes Louise (nee McNulty) McCorry. Anne attended St. Thomas Aquinas School for twelve years. She was offered a full 4-year college scholarship; however, her parents declined the offer in favor of her finding employment. Anne began work with the Heart Association of Boston. She then volunteered to serve in the Army, and following her tour she moved to Texas where her half-brother, Paul McGarrigle, was also serving in the Air Force. It was here that Anne met her brother’s roommate, Air Force pilot Daniel Tauriello, who became Anne’s sole love interest. Anne briefly attended Baylor University to study art, and when Christmas vacation came she left Baylor and returned to Boston where she continued her art studies. Anne and Dan kept up their communication, and after Dan received orders for transfer they married while he was in Boston on his way to his Alaska post. Eventually, Anne joined Dan, and their first child, Lisa, was born in the middle of a January blizzard after they made it to a military hospital. Anne became active in the Officers’ Wives Club as publicity chair, working with the local newspaper as well as the air base press. As the years and various transfers occurred, Anne was asked to continue as publicity chair for Officers’ Wives Clubs in France and England. When Dan, now a Lt. Colonel, was sent to the far east during the Vietnam War, Anne and their children moved to be close to her sister Agnes and her family in Denver. Shortly after his tour overseas, and after serving decades and through three wars, husband Dan retired from the Air Force. Anne and Dan’s lives changed as their children grew and their own interests took hold. Anne worked for the League of Women Voters as manager of the Colorado office. She took courses at the University of Colorado, Denver, and finally received her graduate degrees of Master of Arts in Art History and Master of Fine Arts in Creative Studio Arts. For a time, she was the executive director for the Colorado Federation of the Arts, publisher of “MUSE.” Anne also volunteered her time with the Art Students League of Denver, an organization committed to helping to guide individuals of all abilities to reach their highest artistic potential. Anne ended her career after serving with the Assistance League of Denver, an all-volunteer, organization whose mission is to transform the lives of children and adults through innovative philanthropic programs. Throughout her life, Anne was a devoted student of spirituality and theology. She and Dan both found true peace and a home in the community of St. John’s Cathedral of Denver. Anne’s ashes will join Dan’s in burial in St. John’s Cathedral’s All Souls’ Walk.
