Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory
Annette Marie Mead Heck
June 1st, 1943 - May 30th, 2015
Annette M Heck, aged 71, died unexpectedly Saturday May 30, 2015 at her home in Port Charlotte. Annette was born June 1, 1943 in Youngsville, PA, the daughter of Alton Arthur Mead and Vivian Maude (nee Hannold) Mead. Annette was a member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. She enjoyed helping elderly people in her apartment complex with doctor appointments, shopping, and running errands for those who did not drive. She enjoyed shopping, swimming, the movies, and especially time with her family. She was such a giving and loving person and donated graciously to Goodwill, International Children Foundation, United Veterans, and other charities. Annette was the last of her siblings, sister, Jean and brothers, George and Marvin. She was married and became a mother in 1968 to her son, Joseph John Heck, her only child. The family moved to Port Charlotte, FL in 1977. Annette became an LPN in 984 and enjoyed working at the local nursing home facilities. After Joseph graduated from Port Charlotte High School in 1986 and joined the USMC, she decided to move back to Youngsville, PA. Joseph was the love of her life and she was so proud of Joseph's 8 years in the Marines. When Joseph came back to Port Charlotte, FL after his career in the military, Annette moved back to Port Charlotte from Youngsville, PA to be closer to her son and grandchildren. Annette was a very strong, independent, and private person with such a big heart. She was not interested in being recognized or praised and spent most of her life taking care of complete strangers and the people she loved the most. We will miss her so much and take peace in knowing she is with her mother, father, and siblings in heaven. Annette is survived by her son, Joseph John Heck, age 47, and his wife, Patricia A Heck; grandchildren, Jonathan Heck, age 26, and his wife, Danielle Heck, Megan Heck, age 21, Zachary Heck, age 8, and Jacob Heck, age 7; two great-grandchildren, Laura Heck, age 7, and the newest member, Ryan Heck, age 4 months. Jonathan Heck was her first grandchild and the second love of her life; they enjoyed a very special bond together. Annette enjoyed spending time with her only granddaughter, Megan Heck, going to the movies and out to dinner. Zachary and Jacob Heck would come over to stay the night with her on the weekend. They would spend their time playing Yahtzee and swimming. The latest memory we have is Annette coming over for Mother's Day and all the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren spent the day together. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, 21075 Quesada Avenue in Port Charlotte. Please visit Annette's tribute wall at www.schelmfh.com to share memories and to send condolences to the Heck family. Arrangements by Paul Schelm Funeral Home in Lake Suzy. Phone (941) 625-3535.
