Anthony Maui Anaya, born in Sacramento, California aged 18 years-old passed away in August 2021. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 28th at 10:00 am at The Rotary Grove at Elk Grove Park (West of the Pavilion). Maui, as his family called him, is survived by his parents Amber Jenkins, Richard Jenkins and Anthony Walker; his brothers Tasi Benavente, Matua Benavente and Lorenzo Rodriguez; his sister and her family Katrina, Taylor, Zayden and Finlay Parker; his grandparents; Dwight and Betty Llacuna, Caron and Mark Macias, Leticia and Scott Ringler, Michael and Martha Ramsay and David Walker; his great-grandmothers Kim Chandler, Barbara Anderson, Peggy Ringler; his Border Collie Mia; his cat Harley; plus a multitude of family, friends, teammates, coaches, and fellow athletes that were all very dear to him. Maui was a loving, affectionate, loyal, and handsome young man. He was an honorable son and brother, and his family was most important in his life. He was a driven, dedicated athlete in wrestling, soccer, football, and boxing. He was an honor student and received many awards throughout his schooling. During middle school, Maui developed a passion for health and fitness and would often mentor his peers and help them develop a fitness regimen. Maui was a hard worker and got his first job at sixteen and was a full-time essential worker throughout the pandemic. Maui was known for his exceptional work ethic and ambition in all that he did. Maui was goofy, playful, loved to laugh and was always a good sport. He was a light in every room he entered and loved making others happy with his great sense of humor. Besides training and competing, he loved camping, traveling, swimming, playing pranks, hanging out with his brothers and puppy, and loved eating delicious meals made by his Dad. Maui has an amazing group of friends that are fine young men just like him. He graduated from John F Kennedy High School in June. Maui was looking forward to fighting his first amateur boxing match in October and eventually a professional boxing career or a career in the trades. He had recently moved to Gravette, Arkansas where he had planned to plant roots with his family. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Anthony Maui’s family to get through this trying time.
