Mr. Anthony J. DeSantis , age 91, of Gloversville, died Wednesday morning, January 11, 2012 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. He was born July 11, 1920 in Gloversville, the son of the late Ettore and Inez Bullo DeSantis. During World War II Mr. DeSantis served his country in the US Navy. On February 8, 1945 he was married to Madeline H. DeSantis. Mrs. DeSantis died August 3, 1990. Anthony was employed at the former Louis Myers and Sons and Perrella Glove shops. For 26 years he worked at General Electric Company in Schenectady, retiring as a chipper in the Steam Turbine Division in 1982. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Survivors include: his daughter, Maria Briffa Barry of Leicester, NY; a brother, Bruno DeSantis Josie of Sarasota, FL; four grandchildren: Kelly Balcom Jeremy, Christopher Briffa AnNhi, Michele Pacheco Gerald and Larry Michael Hicks Patty Freeman; four great-grandchildren: Ashley and Catherine Pacheco, Yseuldt Balcom and Peyton Briffa. Also surviving are a son-in-law, Gerard Glowniak; a niece and several cousins. Anthony was predeceased by another daughter, Regina Glowniak. The family will receive relatives and friends from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 13 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit. The Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak will be the celebrant. Interment will take place in the spring at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St; Gloversville, NY 12078.
