Anthony Lawrence Katz
April 30th, 1942 - March 15th, 2017
Anthony L. Katz, age 74, passed away in his home on March 15th, 2017 in St. Pete Beach. He was a naturalized U.S citizen, born in Naples, Italy on April 30th 1942. Tony was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He put his family and friends first, always willing to lend a hand in times of need. He is known for his great sense of humor, his upbeat attitude, and his zeal for life. Tony made friends everywhere he went; anyone who crossed paths with him couldn't help but smile. He was incredibly articulate and intelligent, constantly sharing his stories and knowledge. Even at 74, Tony was on top of new technology trends and gadgets - He knew more about gadgets and technology than his grandchildren! From serving in the Marine Corps., to playing saxophone in a band (The Aztecs) on the Jersey Shore, to traveling Asia and scuba-diving in the Caribbean, to cooking delicious Italian cuisine, to spending his last few years traveling in South America, Tony lived life to the fullest, always with a smile. Tony was a widower of his true love, Betty Lou Holman-Katz. He is survived by his father Rubin Katz, his daughters Michele Glover and Clydette Johnson, and his six grandchildren: Ashley, Courtney, Brandon, Samantha, Stephanie, and Joseph. He has said some of the best years of his life were those spent with his grandchildren. Tony was a member of St John Vianney Catholic Church, and also loved spending his free time at the Elks Club with friends. A gathering will be held from 2-3 PM on Friday, March 24 at the David C. Gross Funeral Home, 6366 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg, where services will begin at 3 PM. Flowers may be sent to David C.
